The history of Mars & More
It all started in an attic in Zwolle back in October 1997 when Dick and Yvonne took the first steps towards making their dream reality. At that time we couldn't have begun to imagine where we would be today with thousands of loyal customers all over the world and a collection which is growing by the year. 1997
Mars & More was set up by Dick van Raalte and Yvonne van Raalte-Mars. The company's name derives from Yvonne's maiden name.
1998
Named best Ulster Weavers kitchen textiles agent.
1999
Winner of the Global Coir Doormat Award.
2000
First employee appointed.
2001
Own warehouse and office opened at Voltastraat 30-32 in Zwolle.
2002
Start of sales at Tica. After the first Cash & Carry, Trends & Trade followed in 2003 and Van Remoortel in 2015.
2003
Attended Tendence trade fair in Frankfurt for the first time. Trade fairs in Dortmund, Hamburg and Munich followed in 2007. We have also been represented at Maison et Objet in Paris since 2009.
2004
Introduction of a new type of product: the machine washable kitchen mat.
2005
marsmore.com web shop launched.
2006
Turnover from abroad exceeded turnover from the Netherlands for the first time.
Introduction of aged scaffolding timber in the corporate identity at trade fairs. It had never been used in the living & lifestyle sphere until that time.
2008
Second bulk warehouse commissioned. In 2012 it became clear that we needed to expand further so a third bulk warehouse was put into action.
2011
Introduction of the Back2Nature brand.
2013
Milestone: we exported to more than 50 countries around the world for the first time.
2014
Considerable expansion of the stand at Trends & Trade in Venlo.
2015
Introduction of a fully revamped warehouse management system.
Considerable expansion of the stand at Tica in Aalsmeer.
2016
Completely revamped marsmore.com web shop launched.
2017
Moved to a larger building & warehouse.
2019
Opening of our new Cash & Carry in Luzern, Switzerland.
2021
Launch new online store.
